About Us The Empathy Foundation is a non-profit organization which was developed for the sole purpose of helping others. Currently, we have two programs that we are dedicated to.. Teddy Bear Time and Building Bridges. Teddy Bear Time
Teddy Bear Time is a program developed by the Empathy Foundation to reach out to children in hospitals by hand delivering Teddy Bears to them. The goal of the Empathy Foundation is to put a smile of the faces of the children who are living in illness, and offer checks to their parents to help with basic necessities. A condensed version of "The Power of Positive Thinking" book is also given to every parent in order to help them emotionally during their child's illness. Someone once said, "until you are hurt, you can never truly understand the hurts of others." Twelve years ago, my family and I were devastated when our daughter Elizabeth was in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson, NJ. As we held our daughter's hand in the ICU, we couldn't imagine how we would ever pay for the medical bills not covered by insurance. Now, as we continue to celebrate Elizabeth's complete recovery, we are reaching out to hospitalized children and their parents who are hurting today. Building Bridges Building Bridges is a program which builds intergenerational bridges to connect the young and old. Various events are planned which give children and senior citizens the opportunity to interact with, learn from, and enjoy each other's company. Local businesses provide food, flowers, etc. to make each event wonderful.
These events are very special for all who attend, regardless of their age. Whether they are exchanging Valentines, or enjoying a St. Patrick's Day luncheon, it is inevitable that many smiles will be seen. Perhaps more importantly, however, is that all involved will take home with them a stronger appreciation for others as well as a greater sense of self-worth
Programs such as Teddy Bear Time and Building Bridges can only continue with your financial support. We greatly appreciate any contribution you can make. Please make the check payable to Empathy Foundation, Inc. |
